Some advice from all the girls at Brenda’s Unisex Salon
Just wanted to give you all a few stops on how to manage your hair without a hairdresser
- AVOID the scissors
- Let your natural roots show everyone is going to be in the same boat so no judgement
- Root spray is a great alternative for the greys
- Use a good shampoo and conditioner. For coloured hair use sulphate free as it will help the colour last longer
- To help prevent static hair (flyaways) make sure you use a small amount of mouse/ heat protective product after you’ve washed your hair
- Another alternative to static hair is when it’s dry is to spray some hairspray onto your hands and rub over the top lightly to smooth out
- Try not to wash your hair too regularly- only twice a week if possible use dry shampoos to help get another few days before you have to wash again
- Always pat dry with the towel don’t rub as this will cause damage

If you have longer hair you will be able to hold out longer but if you need it cut before then I would put hair in a middle parting and then put the hair into two low pig tails, and cut ends.
NEVER try to cut a straight line as it will be a mess. Point scissors up the way so you are pointing into the hair and cut till you feel you have enough off.
Start off with little, you can always go back and cut more, plus make sure your pig tails look even in the mirror before you take them out.
